Oh no.. Things are about to get serious, so hold on to your
seat ladies and gentlemen. When I read this chapter I must have had my mind in
the gutter because when Tris is talking about how she hears squeaking
mattresses and then sees Will and Christina dressing, I assumed the worst.
Sorry for that, but I feel that part could have been made a little more clear.
Straying away from my inappropriate tangent, it turns out that the Dauntless have all been
turned to zombies basically. They are controlled by the transmitters that they
had been injected with the day before. Tris saw that one coming. You go Tris!
However, predictions are useless now, because the worst has already begun. I'm imagining a full out zombie apocalypse at this point. I really can't wait to see what they do in the movie for this part. I feel that a very large portion of it will be dedicated to this section, as the movie is never like the book. But wait a second... How does Tris know they are all sleep walking? Even better question, why isn't she? Yup, I bet you guessed it. DIVERGENCE. It is all making sense as to why being Divergent is dangerous. It prohibits the leaders from using you as a pawn to get what they want. You have the ability to think for yourself and they can't stand that. This honestly made me think of a documentary we watched in history about North Korea. The more brain washed they can get people, the easier it is to get them to follow your each and every command. Anyhow, she has to find a way to fit in, or at least pretend to.
She tries to march in unison with the other Dauntless members as they make their way to a stock pile of arms. They each take one and continue onward to board the train. Oh dear lord this is getting too suspenseful for me. But guess what! Since this book has screwed Tris over countless times, it is going to give her some good luck to make the playing field even. She stands next to Tobias on the train. Hallelujah thank the lawd. Guess what else! He's Divergent too. DIDN'T SEE THAT COMING DID YA? Actually you probably did.. This book is a tad bit predictable at points. Their arrival in Abnegation makes me stomach drop. Tris and Tobias create a plan (go figure). Before she can reach her family, she witnesses a Dauntless soldiers murder an Abnegation leader. The soldier is Tori. They are going after leaders, so Tris's father is in great danger. HURRY TRIS, HURRY! But like I said, this book constantly screws Tris over, and Eric finds out that her and Tobias are immune to the mind control. They are forced to surrender their weapons and are basically taken custody.
"You won't shoot me," Eric replies.
"Interesting theory," I say.
