Chapter 14

Visiting Day is about to come upon the initiates. Tomorrow marks day that Tris thinks she's figured out what will happen. She is getting herself ready for the momentous day and notices the changes her figure is going through. She is developing muscle and losing any fat that was once on her body. I think it would be strange to have my physical appearance change so quickly that I can actually notice changes without looking at pictures or some kind of reminder of how I once was. I suppose that she has developed a sense of remembering her image due to the fact that she wasn't allowed to look in mirrors growing up.

Unfortunately, these changes aren't exactly for the better in everyone's eyes. Because Peter, Molly, and Drew are devil children and feel the need to hurt everyone around them, they take Tris's towel, exposing her. They make fun of her body and she can't help but let out a sob after she takes refuge in the bathroom. I don't understand what makes Peter, Molly, and Drew be so completely inhumane. They look for every excuse to humiliate someone that they can possibly get. I can't see any motivation, or any reason they could have to find that type of behavior to be fulfilling. Thankfully, Tris takes it better than I would have and gets dressed. This probably has to do with the fact that she knows she will have the opportunity to get revenge on one of them during today's fight. She shoots a glance at the board. Molly. Even though she and I would both rather it be Peter, Molly is good enough to let some anger out on.

The fights leading up to hers aren't very eventful, but Tris still takes note. I think this is a big contribution as to how she does so well. Not only does she take things from her own personal experiences, but she also makes an effort to learn what she can from others'. Finally it is time for her to enter the ring. Instead of relying purely on physical strength, Tris uses strategy to her advantage. She recalls what she knows from watching Molly's previous fight to conclude that they way to win is to go for her stomach and ribs. She knocks Molly to the ground and continues kicking until Four stops her. I think she went a little bit overboard with how much she hit Molly after it was clear who the winner of the fight was. It almost made her seem like an animal, but I completely understand why she couldn't stop herself. It might sound a bit sadistic, but I was happy to see Molly finally get what she deserves.

"At least I am stronger than I was."
